American Red Cross Interns & Volunteers; Prefer: Social Work, Health, Computer Science, Communications (but not limited to these majors) Volunteer with a Red Cross office serving local communities, full-service operations to include; Blood Drives, Military Communications, Health and Safety, Disorder Preparedness & Relief
Big Brothers Big Sisters of NRV Volunteers; All Majors Mentor school aged children
Brain Injury Services of SWVA Volunteers; All Majors “Providing A Link to Survivors” (PALS) Program: provides clients an opportunity to connect with community volunteers to create new friendships and regain self-esteem by expanding their social circle. Clients are matched with volunteers based on gender and common interests.
Carilion Clinic Hospice Volunteers; Prefer: Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Recreation Camp Tree House – grieving camp for children ages 6-17. Saturday, September 27, 2008, 9:00am – 6:00pm
City of Roanoke Volunteers Special events (concerts, Broadway shows, river-clean-ups). Long-term opportunities in local government departments
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Global Mission Volunteers; All Majors, Prefer: Education, Nursing, Social Work 1 year or longer faith-based service abroad in a variety of settings including but not limited to teaching, social work, nursing, advocacy, social justice and youth work.
Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council Volunteers & Interns; All Majors Long-term: troop leadership; Short-term: 4 week themed program at outreach; Episodic: assist with one-time events, programs, meetings; Themed: Major creates, run and evaluates a one-time event or program
Glencoe Museum & Radford Heritage Foundation Volunteers & Interns; All Majors Interpreter, Special Events, Historical Research, Historical Preservation Projects
Habitat for Humanity of the NRV Interns & Volunteers; Prefer: Marketing, Sales Restore, Construction Volunteers
Historic Smithfield Plantation Interns & Volunteers Prefer: History, Museum Studies, Education, Communication (P.R., Event Planning), Marketing Variety of opportunities available: Developing & implementing educational programming, Developing & implementing special exhibits, General Research on topics related to Colonial life or Preston Family; Development of marketing materials and fund raising events; Assist in Museum store; Help maintain grounds; Interpret, give tours, etc.
Hospice of Southwest Virginia Volunteers; All Majors Volunteers
NRV Cares Volunteers, Faculty & Staff, and students over 21 years of age Court Appointed Special  Advocates (CASA) trains volunteers for abused and/or neglected children in court
New River Community Action Volunteers; All Majors, Prefer: Psychology, Education Looking for energetic college students to volunteer with the Narrows Elementary/Middle School After-School Program to help with homework, recreation time and as role models
Project Linus Volunteers; All Majors Blanket Workshop on Sept & Feb. for seriously ill children
Radford Clothing Bank Volunteers; All Majors, Prefer: Social Services and Marketing Assist clients processing clothes.
Radford’s Visitors Center Volunteers & Interns: All Majors, Graphic Design, Tourism Event Planning, Graphic Design(brochures, marketing material), Various contacts with visitors and local businesses
Raft Crisis Hotline Volunteers & Interns; All Majors; Prefer: Counselor Ed, Human Development, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology Raft Crisis Hotline is the only crisis hotline in the New River Valley. We provide 24 hours crisis counseling, referral, and emergency support. We are dedicated to helping each caller by providing empathy, problem-solving, and alternative solutions. We are supportive and accepting of the needs of our callers and strive to increase their coping skills and aid them in resolving their crises.
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSPV)- Floyd County Volunteer Interns; Work Study Prefer: Social Services Floyd RSVP is sponsored by New River Community Action, and is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and Floyd County Local Government.  Floyd and Giles Counties are sister programs and share the project grant.  Those 55 and above are recruited and matched with volunteer work according to their skills and interests.  RSVP serves to support charitable and help organizations to help strengthen initiatives that in turn will have a favorable impact on people’s lives.

Special Olympics Volunteers; All Majors, Prefer: Recreation, Special Education, Psychology Competing in sport leagues with Special Olympic athletes – bowling, swimming, volleyball, basketball, softball. Help with Annual Track & Field event that is held in Radford.
Volunteer Roanoke Valley Volunteers; All Majors Many opportunities available throughout the Roanoke Valley.
VT Adult Services Interns & Volunteers: Prefer: Research Therapy, Music Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, History Research, Activity Facilitation, Senior Companion, Gardening, Geriatrics
